That a watchmaker as revered and renowned as Patek Philippe is putting out its first entirely new collection in 25 years is major news in the world of luxury watches. As expected for an event of this magnitude, the new Cubitus collection was launched to great fanfare this October at the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk, a former power station in Munich, Germany, that has since evolved into an avant-garde space for art, culture and gastronomy. The private party saw some 600 guests from all over the world, from the brand's VIPs to selected media including Tatler, in attendance to celebrate and view the first three Cubitus watches, which include a new complication in the Swiss manufacture's portfolio.
Spanning nearly 2,000 square metres, with a ceiling height of 25 metres, the space was buzzing with watch enthusiasts eager to see and try on the novelties. The night, enriched with musical entertainment and artistic performances as well as a feast of culinary wonders, came to a head when Thierry Stern, president of Patek Philippe, took to the stage for his opening speech and the big reveal.
