THIS summer marks the 10th anniversary of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The tournament saw plenty of shock results, controversial moments and breakout players, which made it an all-time classic.
Going into it, many wouldn’t have known of Colombia’s James Rodriguez, but he was the name on everyone’s lips in the following weeks.
Prior to the Brazil showpiece, Rodriguez had been making his name in European football with successful seasons at Porto and Monaco after beginning his career in his homeland and then Argentina.
He won the league three times in Portugal with 25 goals and 29 assists in the league across those seasons.
In the summer transfer window of 2013, Rodriguez made the move to Monaco, and was joined by fellow Colombian international Radamel Falcao.
