A DELIGHTED King Power Stadium witnessed a Ruud awakening as a new era kicked off in stunning style.

Goals from Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannouss, and substitute Patson Daka ushered in a fresh dawn at the East Midlands club as the new boss sprinkled some Dutch magic onto proceedings.

It left Leicester's fans in raptures, joyously singing Van Nistelrooy's name by the final whistle as his arrival sparked a show of unusual heart and determination by the hosts.

However, it triggered the 3,000 travelling Hammers fans into a reaction of their own. Beleaguered boss Julen Lopetegui was serenaded to a hearty chant of "You're getting sacked in the morning." In fairness to the visitors, they bossed large chunks of this but were simply too weak defensively.
