A PLYMOUTH man has survived a cardiac arrest in a local brewery after several medics who happened to be nearby sprang into action to save him.
Ian Househam, aged 62, collapsed in Roam Brewery & Bakery last month, with an “outstanding” response from both the medics and brewery staff.
Ian had the sudden cardiac arrest shortly after arriving for his friend’s dog’s 10th birthday party at the independant brewery, taproom and kitchen in Peverell, on October 17.
Luckily for him, six Derriford-based medics – including some emergency doctors – just happened to be having a quiet after-work drink there at the time.
All six medics immediately sprang into action, along with a first responder from RNLI, another trained medic and several of the Roam Brewery staff who were trained in emergency first aid, including the manager Daniel Heath.
Shane Scott, aged 70, is a long-term friend of Ian and he’d organised a get together at the bar for his dog, Jackson – who had turned 10.
