HEALTH SEC: I CAN'T WAIT TO REFORM THE NHS

WES Streeting says he's ready to get stuck in to the challenges facing Labour as the party marks a rocky first six months in power.

The Health Secretary told us: "There hasn't been a single day in the last six months where I've gone to work feeling sorry for myself about how big the challenge is.

"Quite the opposite I relish the challenge and I relish the opportunity the British people have given us to actually make a difference.

"I spent nearly a decade in opposition moaning about the state of the country.

"It's bloody brilliant to be able to go to work and do something about it."

Mr Streeting spoke as he and Prime Minister Keir Starmer prepare to unveil a raft of health reforms tomorrow with the aim of halving waiting lists.

The Health Secretary said the plan was to deliver "improvement at a faster pace and a greater scale than even the last Labour government achieved".

"It's a hard task the Prime Minister and the public have set for me," he admitted. "I am having to be relentlessly focused right down to individual hospitals and different parts of the NHS.
