Our Coleen asked: Mum, have I been boring in the camp?

IT was a moving moment Coleen Rooney's mum Colette cherished and which melted the hearts of millions of viewers.
TOM BRYANT
Our Coleen asked: Mum, have I been boring in the camp?

After nearly three long weeks apart, Coleen was thrilled to see her two excited boys Kit, eight, and Cass, six, again and cried tears of joy.

Her calmness, patience, kindness and humour have won over the nation and made her a favourite to win.

But, incredibly, the modest 38-year-old mum of four was nervous about how she is perceived back in the UK.

Colette says: "As I held her, one of the things she said to me was, 'Mum, have I been boring?' It broke my heart hearing that but I said, 'No, you've been yourself and that's all that matters"."

CONFIDENCE

Speaking on the eve of the final, Colette said this humble attitude summed her daughter up perfectly.

"She is obviously thinking about what people are thinking, but she needn't worry. If she went in shouting and being loud, that wouldn't be her.

We've seen the true Coleen." Colette firmly believes Coleen has regained her zest for life on I'm A Celeb. "The show's helped it come back, and also her confidence, because she was really lacking in it." Colette says her daughter's jungle experience has been the perfect tonic after a tough two years centred around her Wagatha Christie high court battle.

Asked what it had been like seeing her daughter struggle during this time, Colette says: "Horrendous, because at one time during the trial, we lost Coleen. Coleen wasn't Coleen. She couldn't be herself.

"We didn't know before the trial what was going on because she didn't tell us. We noticed a difference in her behaviour, in her attitude, she even distanced herself.

"So when it all came out, it was a relief for us, really, because then we knew what was going on.

But now we've got her back fully. After so long away, Colette was eager to visit Coleen in camp and see how she was coping with life in the jungle. Colette was under no illusions just how tough the experience had been.
