Curb your appetite
Oxytocin, also known as the 'love hormone', is released during physical affection, orgasm and times when you feel warm and fuzzy, says sex and relationship expert Annabelle Knight*. But increased levels of oxytocin can also help to reduce appetite, decrease overeating and enhance your metabolism, says research**.
This is due to oxytocin-reducing activation in the hypothalamus - an area of the brain that controls hunger and increases activation in regions of the brain associated with impulse control. Can't resist sugary snacks in the evening? Switch TV box sets and tempting treats for a massage, cuddling or a bubble bath together.
