Founder of Radiant Body Yoga, Kia Miller leads workshops, retreats and teacher trainings throughout the world
One of the world’s most celebrated yoga teachers, Kia Miller has the ability to make the deep, subtle teachings of kundalini yoga applicable to everyone, regardless of age or ability. The Los Angeles-based teacher is certified in both hatha and kundalini yoga and is founder of Radiant Body Yoga. Her classes are a dynamic mix of movement, breath, meditation and chanting.
Born in the Falkland Islands, Miller discovered yoga as an inquisitive 15-year old browsing a legwarmer-clad Raquel Welch in her beauty and fitness book. Her enduring love affair with the practice began soon after, on moving to London aged 18 where she was taught by renowned yogi Godfrey Devereux. She says, “Having lived through the Falklands war, my father’s death and moving back to the UK to a tumultuous relationship with my mother, I was very disassociated with my body. Working as a model, the industry looked at me from the outside, so I felt completely removed from who I am on the inside. Kundalini changed this by tuning me into a level of authenticity and empowerment that I didn’t have before. In retrospect, part of this was probably youth, but yoga helped me be in my body and learn who I was from the inside out.”
It was while reading The Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda during a gloomy London winter that the urge to visit India, the birthplace of yoga, was ignited. Miller soon did, working on a documentary on the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala and spending four months filming women on the path of yoga, and meeting her future husband and fellow yogi Tommy Rosen.
