“I Was An Extremely Shy, Shy Child, But At The Same Time Somewhere I Knew That This Is What I Would Do”

Sidra Sheikh
Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone is a woman of many talents and while her successes and accomplishments are widely known, her journey to stardom is not. She is a woman full of surprises and definitely does not fit the mold of a typical actor or model.

It is often expected or assumed that a model or actress grows up watching tons of films, acting and modelling professionally or while playing around at home. This was not the case for Deepika, she was actually a very shy child, barely wore any makeup or dressed up and only watched movies a hand full of times a year. That being said, when she did watch movies or beauty pageants, she felt a sense of familiarity and it seems so did her parents because when she did tell them this is what she wants to do, they already knew!

As a child, it becomes clear Deepika definitely did not fit the mold of expectations or act in a way that the internet and society outline for her professional field and it seems the internet is striking out in terms of representing her truly in both her professional and personal life.

Over the past few months, Deepika’s relationship has been a hot topic on the internet and when questioned about the claims being made in regard to it, she has taught us a valuable lesson – “just because its on the internet doesn’t mean I said it!”.

In our exclusive interview with the star, we are grateful to have had the chance to learn about her professional and personal journey and give you exactly what she DID say in our interview below!

How did you get into acting and modelling? Was it something you always wanted to do?

UNTTLD (Simon Belanger)
SHE Canada Magazine

UNTTLD (Simon Belanger)

Luxurious, domineering, and vibrant – three words that solidly define UNTTLD’s incredible showcase of their F/W 2018 collection at Toronto Fashion Week. Adorned with black headdresses (or hats), the models that graced Yorkville Village’s runway flaunted boldcoloured velvet dresses and boss-lady outfits. Since 2011, designer duo Simon Belanger and Jose Manuel Jacques have been creating lux pieces that reflect on masculine feminity to emphasize the capabilities and desires of the modern woman. We had the opportunity to speak to Simon shortly after the show about their one-of-a-kind collection that is truly one to reminisce.
