The pattern of after-five outfits did not conclude with UNTTLD on the first day of TFW, Narces presented its incomparable line of meticulously crafted gowns and dresses shortly after. A specialist of vêtements de soirée, head designer Nikki Yassemi exhilarated her audience with unique mesh pieces embellished with ruffles and fringe that are completely fresh to the common eye. SHE met with the dressmaker after showcasing her glamorous collection on the runway, which was heavily inspired by her mother’s early works and strong personal desire to be innovative.
Can you briefly describe how your fashion journey began?
It started through my mom. She was a dressmaker and her works have surrounded me, which became a big part of my life. You can’t get away from that.
What made you gravitate towards designing gowns and evening wear?

UNTTLD (Simon Belanger)
Luxurious, domineering, and vibrant – three words that solidly define UNTTLD’s incredible showcase of their F/W 2018 collection at Toronto Fashion Week. Adorned with black headdresses (or hats), the models that graced Yorkville Village’s runway flaunted boldcoloured velvet dresses and boss-lady outfits. Since 2011, designer duo Simon Belanger and Jose Manuel Jacques have been creating lux pieces that reflect on masculine feminity to emphasize the capabilities and desires of the modern woman. We had the opportunity to speak to Simon shortly after the show about their one-of-a-kind collection that is truly one to reminisce.
