Samar Qureshi - Squared Photo Booth
SHE Canada Magazine|Issue 4 2018

Confidence and taking chances are two very important factors when it comes to owning and running a business. In the case of Samar Qureshi, co-founder and owner of Squared photo booth, they are the two factors that led to the creation of his business.

He believed he could make a service he saw at an event better and based on the success of his business, he was right. SHE had a chance to ask him all the details about his journey thus far and boy are we impressed!

Where/When did the idea to start your own business/company come from?

I was invited to a reunion party for an organization I volunteered with at the University of Toronto which integrates adults with disabilities with university students. At this event, there was a photo booth my wife, Summer and I par took in, it was fun, but I looked at it and thought to myself that I could do this so much better. A few months passed and I thought I’d scratch this itch and I’d try it at my cousins wedding. Summer and I did a lot of market research, tested many different software options, camera setting and lighting and finally came up with something we loved. That was it, the beginning of SQuared Photo Booth.

UNTTLD (Simon Belanger)
SHE Canada Magazine

UNTTLD (Simon Belanger)

Luxurious, domineering, and vibrant – three words that solidly define UNTTLD’s incredible showcase of their F/W 2018 collection at Toronto Fashion Week. Adorned with black headdresses (or hats), the models that graced Yorkville Village’s runway flaunted boldcoloured velvet dresses and boss-lady outfits. Since 2011, designer duo Simon Belanger and Jose Manuel Jacques have been creating lux pieces that reflect on masculine feminity to emphasize the capabilities and desires of the modern woman. We had the opportunity to speak to Simon shortly after the show about their one-of-a-kind collection that is truly one to reminisce.
