Spring Forward
Florida Sport Fishing|March - April 2018

BUSINESS CAN BE CRAZY, but there’s no end to the stress I’ll submit myself to ensuring that my wife lives a happy life. Flying across the country for a mere 24 hours was not out of the norm. Truthfully, I enjoyed my time on the road and maximized every second by sneaking in a fishing trip whenever I could.

Spring Forward

Although most of my domestic destinations are pale and lacking in luster, I was counting the days until my upcoming sitdown with a particularly profitable distributor in Key West. It’s an account I would do anything to have in my portfolio, even if it meant flying across the country for a two-hour meeting. Despite only having a single day on the rock, I was determined to visit as many of my favorite sites as possible and I’d even figured a way to wet a line.

Like many of the quirky individuals that live in Key West, Mr. Southard’s business practices were far from normal and his request for a Sunday morning meeting wasn’t that peculiar. My flight landed at 9 a.m. and I knew that to maximize time I would have to boost the traditionally slow pace employed in the tropics. I certainly enjoy a cocktail before noon, but I needed to ensure I closed this deal and opted for a con leche from 5 Brothers.

Among the different trends that have consequently become evident from the evolution of center consoles, boat builders are cornering a new niche of complex and competitive catamarans harnessing more outboard power than ever before. Breaking the barrier with innovative hull designs and deck layouts, the newest catamarans offer unobstructed fishability while providing increased fuel economy and speed per applied horsepower.
