When they renovated the property, they preserved the unique wallpaper in the King&rsquo;s Room, where the Swedish King Oscar I once slept, which makes a romantic backdrop for family festivities at Christmas.Portraits of ancestors preside over the family&#39;s holiday traditions such as baking sweet saffron bread speckled with raisins for breakfast on St. Lucia&rsquo;s day and Christmas Eve. The children prepare cookie decorations and spike the oranges with cloves&mdash;traditional Christmas Eve fare. A lunch &ldquo;julbord&rdquo; consists of smoked and pickled fish, and hot and cold meats, washed down with gl&ouml;gg, a hot spiced wine.The family decorates the dining room with family heirlooms, hand-embroidered linens, wreaths and hand-blown glass ornaments, and a multitude of pointed candles all bound and tied with red ribbons. Sparkling crystal chandeliers reflect the candlelight from a mix of antique candlesticks. Antique etched glass and special containers are used to carry the multitude of fare to complete the perfect Christmas.Outside in the cold, crisp air, the children light sparklers on St. Lucia day and on Christmas Eve to honor the tradition of lighting the Christmas tree.
