NAMRATA PUROHIT

Celebrity Trainer & Pilates Expert

The youngest trained Stott Pilates instructor in the world, Purohit co-founded The Pilates Studio with her father Samir Purohit. She trains Bollywood stars—the likes of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, and Malaika Arora—sportspersons, and other notable personalities.

Tell us about a typical day in your life.

I usually wake up by 6:30 am, and go horse riding or to play squash. I eat breakfast and go to the studio by around 9am, train my clients until 4pm, and try to catch a workout around noon. After that, I look into the business side of things, and in the evening, I try to go either for a swim or a walk, and go to bed by 10 pm. I usually have my day planned out. Sometimes it’s flexible, but this is would be an ideal day.

Growing up, did you have a strict focus on wellbeing in your family?

I’ve grown up with the philosophy: no fear and live life king size. This was inculcated in me by my father at a young age, and reinforced by my mother. So, I go out, and try everything, never scared to fall and get up again. And I live life king size by doing everything I enjoy and just going for it 100 per cent. My childhood also involved a lot of sport, and that translated into me playing a lot of different sports. I took to squash, and even played nationally. In general, I’ve always been a healthy person because my family is pretty healthy overall. It’s been a lot easier for me because it naturally translated from watching them from a young age.

What’s your personal wellness mantra and how do you translate it into your life?
