Remember the Julia Roberts starrer The Runaway Bride? The movie was based on a bride who would repeatedly fail to control her pre-wedding anxiety and escape just before her wedding ceremony, leaving her groom stranded on the altar. You are wrong to think that this happens only in the movies, although, in real life, pre-wedding stress rarely leads to running away. However, in some cases, it can be that severe.
A recent Nielsen survey indicates that almost 87 per cent of Indian women are stressed out. Further, it is worth knowing that women are biologically two times more prone to developing stress and anxiety during their lifetimes than men are. These differences exist due to the different brain chemistry in women. Research seems to show that they are slow in processing serotonin; the brain is more readily activated by stress and stays in that mode for longer.
CAUSES OF STRESS
In addition to the physical expression of stress, which manifests on the face, skin, eyes, shoulder, etc, stress can also affect our mental, social, emotional, and intellectual well-being. Research indicates that about 84 per cent of women are unable to express that they are stressed out.
