Stargazing in Northumberland

Long, dark nights and clear skies are perfect for winter stargazing. Head to Northumberland to uncover the wonders of Britain’s largest designated International Dark Sky Park – 1,483 sq km of countryside unpolluted by artificial light. Wintry nights afford views of the spiralling Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way, as well as amazing meteor showers. You may even glimpse the Northern Lights. Observatories at Battlesteads and Kielder offer prebookable winter events, including aurora gazing and astronomy for beginners. See northumberlandnationalpark.org.uk.
