‘We have strict boundaries’

Joanne Edwards, 50, lives in Longfield with her husband, Graham, 63, and sons, Connor, 24, and Callum, 20.

When I tell people Graham and I work together, I know what the response will be. ‘Oh, I could never work with my husband,’ they all say.

But, in our case, being colleagues and partners has always been a good thing. Graham was a solicitor and I was a legal secretary in a different department when we met in December 1999 at our law firm’s Christmas party. We secretly started dating in January 2000, but it wasn’t long before a colleague spotted us holding hands in town and we had to come clean. Luckily, both our bosses accepted our relationship. After all, we were always discreet and respectful.
