At the time of writing this column, I have just got off the phone from my darling 80-year-old Nana.
Understandably, she wasn’t quite her usual upbeat self amidst this worrying COVID-19 crisis and she admitted that she was feeling a bit lonely with the sudden lockdown.
It dawned on me just how important all her daily social connections were and how much she was missing them. Church, family gatherings, cups of tea with friends and her work as a hospital volunteer have all come to a grinding halt.
Stopping social activities and staying put is the single best thing we can be doing right now and we must all follow the rules to beat this awful virus, but there are small acts we can carry out for each other during this time to boost the spirits of those around us. Stay safe but stay connected!
