Rutter’s man reveals the demands of racing in both British Superstock AND British Superbikes
2016 BMW S1000RR ALEC TAGUE
A LOT HAS HAPPENED – and a lot of miles have been covered – since last month’s instalment. We had a solid weekend at Brands Hatch in Superstock, going into the two-leg 100-mile race on the Saturday afternoon. It was a mixed-up race with a red flag and a restart. We ended up with a second and a fourth in both parts, for an overall third place. Then, on Sunday we had the usual Superstock race – Michael was lapping under the lap record and finished second. No drama, and we extended third position in the championship.
Going into Thruxton was always going to be a lot of work. We’d decided to run Michael in British Superbikes as well as Superstock. It wouldn’t have been so bad if there was just the one Superstock race, but the organisers in their infinite wisdom decided to introduce another race on the Saturday. We were ridiculously busy… Michael finished Saturday’s race and went straight from that to a qualifying session for BSB.
