New sports nutrition strategies that enhance performance

Michael J. Rudolph, Ph.D.
Ultimate In Nutrition

The field of sports nutrition has delivered many effective strategies that improve exercise performance. One of its primary areas of focus has been on the best use of carbohydrates and fatty acids for maximal energy levels while exercising, or competing, to advance performance. Carbohydrate consumption still remains the best way to supercharge the energy status of the body for greater performance. However, some recent evidence indicates that short periods of reduced carbohydrate intake may actually enhance energy levels, improving training adaptations and muscular performance. The proper consumption of protein has also been a major area of interest for some time in nutrition science. More recently, it has become evident that even greater protein intake than previously believed more vigorously stimulates muscle growth.

Sports nutritionists have also discovered several novel ergogenic compounds. A few of the most effective ergogenic compounds are beta-alanine, which mitigates muscular fatigue for improved endurance; and phosphatidic acid, which triggers muscular growth and strength. Altogether, these novel findings provide for superior performance in the gym and on the athletic field.

What should i focus on or stay away from when looking for consistent motivation? Thank you in advance.

Muscle-Building Research Review: Best of 2016

ENHANCED PERFORMANCE WITH CREATINE AND REST-PAUSE TRAININGThe right combination of supplement and training techniques can vigorously boost muscle size and strength. One combination suggested in 2016 involved the joint use of creatine monohydrate with the rest pause training technique. Rest-pause training typically involves the use of a weight that you can lift for a specific amount of repetitions. Yet, instead of lifting the weight uninterrupted for a complete set of repetitions, you rest between repetitions. This approach will typically allow performance of additional repetitions, providing a substantial training effect that boosts muscle size and strength.
