THE ISLAND
NEW FROM TUE 14 JAN, BBC IPLAYER
DRAMA (EPS 1 & 2 FROM TUE 14 JAN; EP 3 FROM TUE 28 JAN; EP 4 FROM TUE 4 FEB)
An affluent family is torn apart by tensions seeded during a Hogmanay party a decade ago in windswept new murder mystery The Island (AKA An t-Eilean), which lands on BBC iPlayer this week.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Scotland's Western Isles, and filmed in Gaelic with English subtitles, the four-part whodunnit starts with a bang when Lady Mary Maclean (Elspeth Turner) is fatally shot and her self-made millionaire husband Sir Douglas (Iain Macrae) is wounded at their stunning waterside castle.
As the couple's grown-up children rush to the scene, detectives suspect a bungled burglary. But then young family-liaison officer Kat Crichton (The Innocents star Sorcha Groundsell) joins the investigation, bringing dark connections to the Maclean clan that could blow the case wide open.
