NEW FROM THU 16 JANUARY, PARAMOUNT+ THRILLER

Having never worked together before, Eve Myles and Katherine Kelly are delighted to be teaming up for gritty new Paramount+ thriller The Crow Girl.

Based on the novels by Erik Axl Sund (the pen name of Swedish authors Jerker Eriksson and Håkan Axlander Sundquist) with Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash serving as an executive producer as well as contributing to the soundtrack, the no-holds-barred six-parter sees Eve as dogged Bristol cop DCI Jeanette Kilburn, who works with skilled psychiatrist Dr Sophia Craven, played by Katherine, to track down a serial killer.

'When my agent said Eve was playing Jeanette, I went, "I'll do it!" smiles Katherine, 45, whose recent credits include acclaimed factual dramas The Long Shadow and Mr Bates Vs The Post Office.

'And when you play opposite Kate, it's a gift,' beams Keeping Faith star Eve, 46. 'Some scenes are uncomfortable as we dig into these women's worlds, but filming was a joy.'

As the drama begins, Jeanette and colleague DI Lou Stanley (Dougray Scott, see panel, right), investigate when a young man's body is found dumped in a bag. Jeanette thinks that dentist Carl Lowry (Industry's Trevor White), a suspected child abuser, may be connected and she calls on the expertise of enigmatic Sophia, who is clinically assessing Carl.

But as a string of similar murders follow and the case becomes increasingly unsettling, is there a link to another of Sophia's patients, the mysterious 'Crow Girl'?

Here, in an exclusive interview, Eve and Katherine tell TV Times more...

What drew you both to this story?

EVE This show is unapologetic in its choices and a special project.

I've played wholesome characters over the past couple of years, but this was playing somebody I found challenging, so I jumped in with two feet.
